SUMMARY:International Coastal Clean Up Day
DESCRIPTION:International Coastal Cleanup Day on September 17 is a promise to bring cleanliness and purity to nature as a whole. The day was started as a way to raise awareness about the growing pollution on various beaches of the world. Population growth and capitalism are just two of the main factors that have led to severely high levels of pollution in the environment\, particularly in the oceans that make up over 70% of our planet. Water has a cyclical nature\, which means that anything we are putting into our oceans and other water bodies will come back to us sooner or later. For every mile of ocean\, there are at least 46\,000 pieces of plastic debris floating within said distance. Furthermore\, as plastic does not decompose over a long period\, and only disintegrates\, minute plastic particles are already showing up in our food and water. If these trends continue\, it won’t be long before we face disastrous outcomes for our environment.   Bring your rakes and shovels and help clean South Beach!

SUMMARY:Zoar International Ministries - Family Fun Day
DESCRIPTION:Over the past 7 years\, Zoar International Ministries has held numerous youth mentorship programs where they offer free counselling\, food and teaching for youths of all ages in The Bahamas. This year they plan to have a free youth seminar under the topic YOUTH CONNECTon July 29th and an exciting fundraiser event the following day July 30th for youths throughout  The Bahamas. The seminar will focus on topics such as dealing with peer pressure\, gang violence\, the influence of social media\, goal setting etc. to encourage self-confidence\, peace and unity amongst the youths in our community. With this said the fundraiser event would be used to assist the minitstry with providing the youths with food and school supplies for the upcoming Fall school  semester as well as assist with food and materials for their 2023 youth mentorship program and their first seminar solely dedicated to building young adults set for 2023. Rotarians from RCNS will volunteer on Saturday\, July 30\, 2022 to assist with the distribution of food and school supplies at their Family Fun Day event.

DESCRIPTION:Each year Willard Patton Pre-School hosts “Camp Opportunity”\, a programme designed to mitigate learning loss over the summer break by providing 4 weeks of instruction to school-aged special needs students. The programme offers programs in cooking\, archery\, music and other activities over a four week span. This year\, the program is being conducted during the period of 12 July to 5 August\, 2022 with support from donors such as the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise. Members also have the opportunity to engage by reading to Camp participants weekly.
